Phyllanthus amarus / niruri
Phyllanthaceae
Phyllanthus amarus, also known as Bhumiamalaki or Phyllanthus niruri, is a small, low-growing tropical plant found across India, South America, and Southeast Asia. Its name "Bhumiamalaki" literally means “Amalaki of the earth”, due to its close resemblance to the Indian Gooseberry in leaf pattern, though it grows much closer to the ground.
It has been a key part of traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani, especially in conditions involving the liver, kidneys, and viral infections.
